DailymotionDownloader is a Dailymotion video downloader online, free to use in any modern browser. Paste the address of a public video, choose a quality, and the video is saved to your device as an MP4 file. There is no account to create, no app or extension to install, and no watermark added to the picture.
It is an independent tool, not affiliated with Dailymotion. Here is how it works, what you get, and where its limits are.
A Dailymotion video downloader by URL
Everything starts from the link. In the app or on the mobile site, tap Share under the video and choose Copy link; on a computer, copy the address from the browser bar. Paste it into the field at the top of this page and press Download.
Starting from the link is what keeps it simple to download Dailymotion video online: a link names exactly one video, so there is no search step and nothing to guess. Full dailymotion.com/video/ addresses, short dai.ly links, embed links and geo.dailymotion.com player links all work, and the https:// part is optional. Anything after the video ID, such as a playlist parameter or tracking tags, is ignored.
From Dailymotion video to MP4, without re-encoding
Dailymotion does not send its player one finished file. It streams each video as a series of short segments, and newer uploads carry the picture and the sound as separate streams. Converting a Dailymotion video to MP4 therefore means fetching those segments and putting them back together in order, with the audio interleaved alongside the video.
That assembly happens in your browser. The video and audio are copied into an MP4 container exactly as Dailymotion encoded them, as H.264 video with AAC audio, so nothing is decoded, compressed a second time, or upscaled. The picture you save is the picture Dailymotion streams at that quality.
That makes it a Dailymotion MP4 downloader in the strict sense. One format comes out of this Dailymotion video downloader: MP4, which plays on current phones, computers and smart TVs without a converter. For the same reason there is no MP3 option, since making one would mean re-encoding the sound. The Dailymotion to MP4 page covers the format in more depth.
Dailymotion HD video downloader: picking a quality
Qualities are listed highest first, each with its resolution, an approximate file size, and an HD badge from 720p up. The usual tiers are 380p, 480p, 720p and 1080p. 380p is Dailymotion's own label for its standard-definition tier, where most sites say 360p; it is passed through unchanged so it matches the quality menu in Dailymotion's player.
Which tiers you get depends on the upload. In a sample of 45 public videos we checked in 2026, every one offered 380p, about two thirds offered 480p, roughly half reached 720p, and a third went up to 1080p. No tool can add detail that was never uploaded, so a video that tops out at 720p saves as a 720p file.
HD is not a paid upgrade: you can use this Dailymotion video downloader free at any quality a video offers. The top row is the best copy available, and the lower rows give smaller files for a phone that is nearly full or a limited data plan. The quality guide explains how big each tier is and which one to pick.
Trim a clip before you download
If you only need part of a long video, open Trim, pick a quality, and set a start and an end time. Only the segments that cover your selection are fetched, so a two-minute clip from an hour-long video does not mean downloading the whole hour. The clip is packaged into MP4 the same way, with no re-encoding.
The end time is exact. The start moves back to the nearest keyframe, the point where the video can begin cleanly, so a clip may start a few seconds before the time you entered.
An online Dailymotion downloader for every device
Run the Dailymotion downloader online in the browser you already have; the steps are the same on a phone, a tablet or a computer. Where the file ends up depends on the device:
- iPhone and iPad: Safari saves the MP4 to Downloads in the Files app. Open it there and tap Share, then Save Video, to move it into Photos.
- Android: Chrome saves it to the Downloads folder, and most gallery apps pick it up from there.
- Windows and Mac: Chrome and Edge ask where to save, then write the file straight there as it arrives. Current Firefox and Safari build it in the browser's own storage and then hand it to your Downloads folder, so a long video in high quality needs free disk space rather than spare memory. Older browsers without that storage assemble the file in memory and warn you before a very large one.
Nothing is kept on our side
The video passes through our server on its way to your browser and is never written to storage there, so there is no archive of anyone's downloads. Public details of a video, such as its title and available qualities, are cached for about ten minutes so a repeat lookup does not ask Dailymotion twice. The privacy policy lists what is kept and for how long.
What it cannot download
Because this is a Dailymotion downloader by URL, it saves one video per link. A link to a channel or a playlist is declined with an explanation rather than queued up.
Some videos are refused on purpose: private and password-protected videos, region-locked videos that are not available where our server is, videos the rights holder has locked to the official player, videos marked as explicit, and live broadcasts while they are on air. Reaching those would mean getting around a restriction someone chose deliberately. When a link fails, the message on screen names the reason, and the guide to videos that will not download explains each one.
Download video from Dailymotion responsibly
A download is not a licence. Whoever published a video owns it, and Dailymotion's Terms of Use restrict downloading without permission from Dailymotion or the rights holder. Use this tool for your own uploads and for videos you have permission to keep, and do not re-upload someone else's work as your own. Our guide to downloading and copyright covers the detail.
